When I saw you on “Sewing with Nancy”…

Tammie,
I wanted to share my first quilt with you. I have been thinking about making a quilt for several years, but didn’t feel I had the time. When I saw you on Sewing with Nancy, I immediately looked for your website as I knew that this process would be relatively quick. I loved pressing the pieces on and seeing the pattern come to life. Thanks for your software and your quilting process.

I’m too excited!!!

Tammie,
I'm too excited to wait to send you the totally finished product. This wall hanging is one of three(grandsons) that I am doing for my in-laws for a Christmas gift. I have not decided how the finished product will be: either over canvas or as a quilted wall hanging. It is done in 1/4" squares, 65 x 70, size now is 19" x 21". I will send photos of the other 2 when they reach this point and then again when complete.

My mother and husband thought I was nuts cutting the fabric for this  project, my husband asked several times if I was going to reconsider and try a different project. My mother wondered out loud if I would do a project like this  again. YOU BET!!!!!!

This is addictive!

Tammie’s method is ingenious! I was able to make a beautiful mosaic quilt in color from a black and white photo of my mother as a child from 1937. I created an heirloom quilt that will be in the family for generations to come. The technique is so simple even a novice quilter can create an incredible piece of textile art. I am currently working on another portrait, and plan to make quilts of more family members, this is addictive!
Thanks Tammie!

I finally finished my Rod Stewart wall hanging just in time for Rod’s current tour. I was undecided whether to give it to him or not but I took it to the Vancouver concert to show it to him during the concert. The end result being that we went to his

dressing room and I got to show it to him and he loved it. He said that we was going to get it framed, so needless to say I gave him the wall hanging and have a picture with him and the wall hanging. I also got a hug and 3 kisses for my efforts. I really enjoyed doing the quilted photo and will have to do another one of Rod so that I can keep it. Everybody just loves the results and are amazed that it is made of fabric. Thanks again for showing me a wonderful way to reproduce my pictures using fabrics. Here is the photo with Rod, me and the wall hanging.

This was my favorite!

Thought you might like to see one of my pictures. I have done four. This was my favorite. I use fine netting over the picture and find this method to be the best. I can pick any area to start. I draw the piece on freezer paper and iron on to the fabric, cut it out and glue onto the netting. This works like a charm.

I have received many compliments!

I started this quilt project the first year Tammie was at SEW EXPO in Puyallup, WA. I knew the photo I wanted to use of my Dog and the more detail I added the bigger it got. It took me 2 years to finish but it''s beautiful.

I have over 5000 pieces and 43 colors of fabric. I didn't listen about making it so big on the first project but no matter it''s wall size and I have received many compliments.

My quilt turned out beautifully

My quilt turned out beautifully - I didn’t realize that my
cat was ill when I started working on it. As I neared the
end, he being quite ill, he sat with me as I finished the
quilt. He died as I finished the quilt. I was able to have
him near as our time together ended... The quilt sits above the piano now.

I can't tell you how excited I am about your software. You are right, it was "stupid easy!" I attached the picture of my brother and his fiance. I'm working on their wedding present. They are getting married in June. Thanks for all your hard work and for sharing your secrets!

p.s. Here's the finished quilt top. I still can't believe it was this easy. People are looking at me like I'm a goddess...and all I did was put fabric between the lines. It is seriously easier than painting inside the lines!

Thanks for providing a terrific computer program!

I really enjoyed making this quilt — it was such  fun to see my husband come to life before my eyes! I made the quilt for a challenge project in our quilt guild. The theme was “When Quilters Talk, They Say It With Color.” Blue is associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, understanding, integrity, seriousness, and truth — all attributes that describe my husband. The technique used to make the quilt also represents Al’s ability to move beyond the minute details in order to see the big picture of any situation. He is my true blue love, so I named the quilt, My True Blue You/Love Is Blue. Thanks for providing a terrific computer program that helped make this quilt so much fun to make!

Your class was the best I have attended! Everyone placing squares of fabric, critiquing colors, pressing and sewing. Then the oooohs and aaaahs; as masterpieces appeared, as if by magic. It’s of my Father…..

Tammie,
I’m so very proud of the quilt . It’s of my father (who passed away last year) and I’m giving it to my mom for Mother’s Day. You helped me out with a couple of the colors through e-mail. Everyone has seen it has been absolutely stunned that this looks just like him! Your program is unbelievable. . . . .

I love the color palette, which was a great help in choosing just the right fabrics. This quilt has 3060 pieces in 24 colors. I did it in the one-inch squares. Although it took me a long time to sew as the squares were so small, it was completely worth it.  I took it to my local fabric stores to look for binding and backing and it was a hit! One of the employees took it around showing it to everyone. I was in Jo -Ann Fabrics for over an hour talking to people about it. They were in awe. I can’t wait to start my next one!

I began in January and by 11:30pm December 24th, I had finished eighteen! When I saw episode #819 of Simply Quilts, I called you on the phone and you were kind enough to spend quite a while encouraging me. Thanks again!

It is amazing to say the least!

I recently finished a photo quilt of my granddaughter and it is amazing to say the least. Everyone gasps when they see it and I can hardly wait to have it in our guild’s quilt show in July.  Thank you for this lovely technique. I will send you a photo of it as soon as I finish quilting it.

Glad I saw you on Simply Quilts!

Hi Tammie, I’d like to tell you how glad I am that I saw you on Simply Quilts. I was so impressed and immediately had the idea to make a Mosaic Quilt of my daughter and her son.

I enjoyed the process so much, it was also a healing process for me because the baby in the picture, Andrew, my grandson, passed away in June, 2004 at the age of 2. It was very emotional when I gave the quilt to my daughter and her family. I’d like to share with you a picture of it. Thank you so much for sharing your technique.

p.s. I just love it hanging in my family room.  I think I forgot to mention that I made two of the same exact quilts so that I could have one too.

President’s House

There will be a show of quilts in philly the first week in july 2011. Its going to be a very big event in philly. The event will be about George Washington's white house and the 9 slaves in his white house.  My quilt is of Hercules, his head cook.  Their story is so interesting.  I had fabric made with all the names of the slaves and used it in quilt.

The name of the show is president's house.  there is so much info, cant type it all.  Google president's house and get more info.  I will be there in July.  i am so excited!!

Tammie’s instructions were great!

I learned more about color value in the one day class
than at Art School! Tammie’s instructions were great! I
watched my photo come to life in the class. I will treasure
my quilt for a lifetime!
